Embracing your Journey with Christ
A Guide to Get You Started
Based on the book 10 Steps Toward Christ, this information sheet offers essential guidance for new believers as they embark on their spiritual journey. Each step outlined here is supported by Scripture references from the New Living Translation (NLT) of the Bible, providing a foundational path toward growing in faith.
1. Commit to Christ: Begin your journey by affirming your belief in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, dedicating yourself to His path.
–“If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
2. Pray Daily: Regular communication with God through prayer strengthens your relationship with Him, allowing you to share your thoughts and receive His guidance.
– “Never stop praying.” (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
3. Study the Bible: The Bible is your spiritual guidebook, offering wisdom and instruction for every aspect of life.
– “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.” (2 Timothy 3:16)
4. Attend Church Regularly: Being part of a church community provides support and fosters spiritual growth through collective worship and learning.
– “And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” (Hebrews 10:25)
5. Serve with Love: Serving others within your community and church demonstrates your commitment to Jesus’s teachings and love for others.
– “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45)
6. Share Your Faith: Spread the good news of Jesus’s love and your personal experiences with Him to inspire and uplift those around you.
– “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 28:19)
7. Obey God’s Commands: Live in accordance with God’s teachings found in Scripture, showing your devotion through your actions.
– “If you love me, obey my commandments.” (John 14:15)
8. Seek Fellowship: Regular interaction with other believers helps you to grow in faith and provides mutual encouragement.
– “As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.” (Proverbs 27:17)
9. Give Generously: Giving not just monetarily but also of your time and talents as an act of worship and trust in God’s provision.
– “You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” (2 Corinthians 9:7)
10. Stay Resilient in Trials: Trust in God’s strength to sustain you through challenges and use these experiences to strengthen your faith.
– “For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13)
As you progress through these steps, consider the important act of water baptism. Baptism is an outward demonstration of your new life as a believer and your commitment to follow Jesus.
– “For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.” (Romans 6:4)
Feel free to discuss any of these steps with your spiritual mentor or church leader, who can provide further guidance and support. May you find joy and fulfillment as you walk this path of faith.
