Day of Prayer
The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine. You will enlarge the nation of Israel, and its people will rejoice. They will rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest and like warriors dividing the plunder. For you will break the yoke of their slavery and lift the heavy burden from their shoulders. You will break the oppressor’s rod, just as you did when you destroyed the army of Midian. The boots of the warrior and the uniforms bloodstained by war will all be burned. They will be fuel for the fire. For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His government and its peace will never end. Isaiah 9:2-7
God is calling us to fast in order to see the promise of healing in the land (family and community), as promised in 2 Chronicles 7:14. The climate within America is troublesome, and while the unrest continues both naturally and spiritually, we must rise as a people to seek the face of God for His leading and intervention.
For your success, begin to taper your intake of food today, Tuesday, so that you are able to fast Wednesday without being overwhelmed. You can choose the type of fast. Here is more information on fasting.
Whatever you are able to sacrifice for the day is completely up to you, but please make a conscious and diligent effort to pray throughout the day. And, if you need to consult your physician because of various medicines, please do so before joining us.
When you fast, prayer is essential. For this reason, you’re welcome to use the template below or pray as led by God. In both cases, we want to seek God with a heart of repentance, gratitude and sincere yearning.
Please consider the Scriptures referenced, pray them aloud and envision them as a reality within your family, our church and nation.
Day of Fasting and Prayer Focus
Worship Time: For 7 seconds worship God at least 7 times today! Thank Him for all He has done and promised you.
Seven times each day I stop and shout praises for the way you keep everything running right. Psalm 119:164, MSG
Father, give us a heart…
1. To share Jesus’ hope to the hurting;
So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” 2 Corinthians 5:20
Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. Ephesians 5:1-2
2. To offer Jesus’ peace in troubling times;
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.. Philippians 4:6
You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. Trust in the Lord forever, For in YAH, the Lord, is everlasting strength. Isaiah 26:3-4
3. To demonstrate Jesus’ love through intentional acts of kindness;
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10
how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. Acts 10:38
4. To embody Jesus’ joy throughout this season;
If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. John 15:10-12
Father, give us a heart so that Jesus’ light shines in darkness, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Thank you for joining us in a day of fasting and praying!
